The police K-9 Unit complements frontline operations in crime scene pursuits, apprehension of violent criminals, border security, explosives and drug detection. Aside from performing main stream operations, the Police K-9 Unit is also involved in a wide spectrum of operations with other Home Team Agencies such as Prison Department as well as the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority.
Community
The Police K-9 Unit actively participates in community events such as Police Community Roadshows and Home Team Festivals to engage the public. It also hosts visits for the National Police Cadet Corps to educate youths on K-9's role in keeping Singapore safe.
Bonding
Bonding is an important aspect of the relationship between handler and the dog. Activities such as grooming, running and training with the dogs foster a solid relationship between handlers and dogs to establish trust, which is paramount in performing daily operations.
