Metamorphosis of the Police K-9 Logo

The first appearance of the Police Dog Unit logo was around 1973 although the Unit was set up much earlier in Singapore. The logo design consisted of an illustration of a German Shepherd and the Singapore flag, framed by a laurel wreath.

The second logo was slightly modified in 1975 by removing the Singapore Flag, while adding "SINGAPORE" to the name of the Unit. Its design remained unchanged for nearly 20 years.

The third logo was created by encircling the words "POLICE DOG UNIT. SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND. SINGAPORE" around the old design, The Police Dog Unit logo underwent significant transformation when the Special Operations Command was officially formed in 1992. This formation unifies the various specialist units into a single strategic tactical command.

The current logo was modernized significantly with the German Shepherd being replaced with a more realistic version.
